MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The National Democratic Institute (NDI) is expected to release findings from its international election observation mission for the 2017 presidential and legislative Liberian elections today, Thursday.

According to an NDI release Wednesday, October 11, 2017, the findings will be released at a press conference at 11:30 this morning at the Royal Grand Hotel.

NDI’s 34-member delegation deployed observers in 15 counties across Liberia, and is being led by U.S. Senator Gary Peters, Michigan, and Senator Ken Nnamani, Former President of the Nigerian Senate.

Dr. Christopher Fomunyoh, NDI Regional Director, is also part of the Observer Mission Leaders.

The release said NDI’s delegation observed polling places on Election Day from opening to closing and that it has held high-level meetings with the relevant authorities.

They include the National Elections Commission, government officials, political party leaders and civil society representatives.

NDI conducted two pre-election assessment missions prior to the polls and provided recommendations to key stakeholders in statements issued in February and September.
