HARPER, MARYLAND COUNTY-The Tubman University Board of Trustees in Harper, Maryland County, is meeting with protesting Engineering students today, Thursday.

William V. S. Tubman University is Liberia’s second state run university next to the University of Liberia.

Our correspondent said, the University’s Board led by its acting chairman, Francis Kateh, convened the meeting as part of efforts to resolve the situation.

The students have been protesting over the past two days, demanding instructors for specific courses and adequate learning materials.

They claim that the University has failed to provide instructor for some courses offered and equipment to enhance practical hands-on knowledge.

Our correspondent said the students’ action has paralysed normal operations at the university, inkling the ongoing mid-tem exams.

According to our correspondent, Dr. Kateh assured the students that their plight will be transferred to the university’s administration.

Dr. Kateh however called on the students to remain calm until the meeting which is scheduled for mid-day.

Meanwhile, our correspondent said the students were anxious to attend the meeting but stressed that at least 60-percent of their plights must be addressed if they must call-off the protest.
