MONROVIA, LIBERIA-A week long Feeder Roads Alternative and Maintenance Program for Alternative Low Volume Road Seals Training

Workshop has opened in Monrovia.

The program is a four year pilot project being supported by SAID in four of the fifteen counties in Liberia.

The counties are Nimba, Lofa, Bong and Grand Bassa.

The training is attended by several local construction companies, including the Liberian Renaissance, 21st Century, Alliance, Gbenson Associates Entrepreneur and MDMC.

Speaking Monday in Monrovia, Deputy Public Works Minister for RURAL Development and Community Services, Jackson Paye, said the project has significantly improved the livelihood of rural inhabitants.

Minister Paye said the move has facilitated the easy transport of their goods to the markets and the direct creation of jobs for community dwellers, among others.

Also speaking, USAID Office for Economic Growth, Director Jennifer Tikka, said:” The project is to construct 200 hundred thousand square kilometers of roads in the target counties.“
