Police warns CDC against militant posture in public places

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Gregory Coleman, has warned the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), against trying to over securitize public spaces.

The Liberia National Police (LNP)  Boss said: “The deployment of members of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), exhibiting militant posture at the Palm Spring resort, is counterproductive to peace and will not be tolerated”.

IGP Col. Coleman said the election security taskforce will not allow any non-state actors using it space to cause problems. The Police IGP made the remark Saturday, November 4, 2017, in Monrovia, where he was awarded by the AME Zion University.

He said: “Such action has given rise to calling in the Executive Protective Services (EPS) to provide security for candidates in the run-off of elections. My mission is to deliver international acceptable policing service to Liberia in these crucial times”.

Col. Coleman said the police focus and intends is to ensure the preservation of peace in Liberia for more peaceful transition and emphasized that the state is in perfect control of the national security.
