MONROVIA.LIBERIA-The Elections Coordinating Committee (ECC) is commending the National Elections Commission for prioritizing looking into the case filed by the All Liberian Party and the Liberty Party as instructed by the Supreme Court.

The ECC also wants the NEC   provide update to the public on progress made on the disposition of the LP case and other complaints, despite legal technicalities.

A statement read Thursday, November 9, 2017, in Monrovia by ECC Steering Committee Head, Oscar Bloh, called on NEC to refrain from making public statements that could appear like assuming judgments on petitions before it.

Mr. Bloh also commended the various political party leaders for calling on their supporters to remain calm as the electoral disputes are being heard.

He further called on national, regional and international partners to remain engaged with all political actors, the media and the civil society to safeguard Liberia’s fragile democracy.

Meanwhile, Mr. Bloh is urging NEC to provide update on the condition and security of the election materials that were transferred to some counties in preparation for the delayed November 7 Run-off Election.
