Nat’l Elections Commission announces run-off date

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Presidential Run-off Elections between the Governing Unity Party (UP) and the opposition Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) has been set for December 26, 2017.

Speaking Tuesday at a news conference in Monrovia, National Elections Commission Chairman, Cllr. Jerome Korkoyah, announced the commencement of campaigning activities immediately following the announcement.

Cllr. Korkoyah said campaigning which starts Tuesday ends Sunday, December 24 at 12 midnight, and encouraged the two parties to campaign in a peaceful manner.

He also assured the partisans of UP and CDC, as well as the people of Liberia that the Commission will fully implement the eight counts of the Supreme Court of Liberia.

Cllr. Korkoyah, however, disclosed:” Representatives of the West African Grouping ECOWAS are expected to arrive in the country today, to provide technical support to the National Elections Commission.”
