Liberian Senate doubts clean-up of Final Registration Roll

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia Senate says it does not believe in claims by the National Elections Commission (NEC) that it cleaned-up the Final Registration Roll (FRR).

Cllr. Jerome Korkoyah, in his first appearance at the Senate Tuesday, December 19, 2017, said:” Cleaning up the FRR would be tedious and time consuming.”

The NEC Boss also told members of the Senate that the cleaned FRR is being posted at various polling places across the Country.

In a motion, Grand Gedeh County Senator, Alphonso Gaye, pleaded with his colleagues to communicate to the Liberian people on their mistrust in NEC’S claims of haven cleaned –up the FRR.

Senator also said:” Given what was expressed by the NEC Chairman that cleaning –up the FRR would be time consuming and tedious, NEC  must clean-up the FRR  in 24 hour period.”

Senator Gaye further noted that due to time the senate the senate could not discontinue activities leading to the conduct of the December 26 run-off Presidential Election.

Meanwhile, fourteen Senators voted for the motion to be granted, one against and two abstained.
