President Sirleaf declares Tuesday a Nat’l Holiday

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Tomorrow, Tuesday, December 26, is the Presidential run-off election day.

Liberians are expected to go to the polls to choose the country’s next leader to succeed President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

Unity Party’s Standard Bearer and current Vice President Joseph Boakai, and the Coalition for Democratic Change, CDC Standard Bearer and Montserrado County Senator, George Weah, are the two candidates in the race.

Campaign ended at midnight on Sunday and voting is set for Tuesday.

Ahead of the polls, President Sirleaf has by proclamation declared Tuesday, December 26, 2017, Presidential Run-off Election Day as a National Holiday.

The day is to be observed as a National Holiday throughout the country.

The Liberian leader wants citizens and foreign residents in the country to respect this holiday, by ensuring all government offices, business houses, and market places are closed Tuesday from six o’clock in the Morning to Six in the evening.
