President-elect George Weah receives congratulatory messages from world leaders

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberian President-elect, George Weah, has begun receiving congratulatory messages from several world leaders.

They include the United States,France,China,United Kingdom,Ghana,Kenya,Zambia,Morocco, South Africa,Nigeria,Niger,Senegal,Gabon and neighboring Guinea.

International organizations, including ECOWAS, African Union and the European Union are on the list, among others.

Washington described Senator George Weah’s election as the first peaceful transfer of power from one elected head of state to another in decades.

China, through its Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Gen Shu-ang, said it is to ready to work along with Liberia to promote the bilateral Comprehensive Cooperative Partnership that benefits both countries.

For his part, Ghanaian President, Nana Akufo Addo, hailed the former football icon for his historic victory and wish him all the best.

Zambian President, Edgar Lungu, said Senator Weah’s election represents the triumph of democracy and renewed hope in Liberia, especially the Country’s democratic credentials.

The Liberian President-elect has also received congratulatory message from the Kenyan Government, through its President, Uhuru Kenyatta.

The Kenyan President commended the Liberian people for their peaceful outcome of the December 26 Presidential-Run-off election.

President Kenyatta has offered his services to President-elect, George Manneh Weah.
