President Weah makes first appointments

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Manneh Weah has made the first set of appointments forming his government shortly after taking over Monday, January 22, 2018.

An Executive Mansion release issued on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, said the President took the decision in consonance with Article 54 of the Constitution of the Republic of Liberia.

Those appointed are Nathaniel McGill, Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Gbehzongar Finley, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Tweh, Minister of Finance Development Planning, Cllr. Charles Gibson,  Minister of Justice.

Others are Major General Daniel Dee Ziankahn, Minister of National Defense and Brigadier General Prince Johnson, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL).

Mr. Sam Mannah has been appointed Press Secretary to the President at the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs.

The appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.

Meanwhile, by directives of President George Manneh Weah, heads of some Government’s agencies and ministries will coordinate the affairs of these institutions until further notice.
