Senate begins confirmation hearings

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Senate has commenced the confirmation hearings of officials of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC)-led Government.

According to the Senate’s Press Director, Jalawa Tonpoe, Thursday, January 25, 2018, the confirmation proceedings started Wednesday, January 24, 2018.

Press Director Tonpoe said the first batch of officials nominated by President George Weah was sent to various committees at the senate.

Director Tonpoe said:” Foreign Minister Designate, Gbenzorgah Finley, and State for Presidential Affairs Designate, Nathaniel McGill and Finance Minister Designate, Samuel Tweh, were the first to appear on yesterday.”

Meanwhile, the Press Director has dispelled rumors that the ongoing confirmation is being done hurriedly by the Liberian Senate.

Mr. Tonpoe said the confirmation hearing is been carried out in accordance with confirmation protocols of the senate.
