LBS Workers’ Union praises President Weah for new appointments at State Broadcaster

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia Broadcasting System Workers’ Union (LIBSWU) is commending President George Weah for his recent appointments made at the State Broadcaster.
President Weah on Saturday, named Tete Gebro and Estelle Liberty – Kemoh as Deputy Director General for Media Services and Deputy Director General for Administration, and re-appointed Ledgerhood J.Rennie as Director General of LBS.
In a release issued Tuesday, January 30, 2018, LIBSWU termed the appointments as timely and in the right direction.
The Union has pledged its support to the new management team ensuring that LBS is committed to promoting the CDC – led Government “Pro – Poor Agenda”.
It is also calling on the Liberian Government to give the necessary financial support LBS Management needs to carry out its functions.
LIBSWU is, however, calling on LBS Management Team to consider the general welfare of the workforce, especially in terms of salaries and wages.
LIBSWU said it will put forward its Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) to the new LBS management, as it is one of the Labor instruments’ for industrial harmony at any work place.
The Union is further calling on the 54th National Legislature to fast track the passage of a bill to make LBS a Public Broadcast Institution, which will make LBS independent in its operations.
