VP Howard-Taylor challenges women to push agenda

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor is calling on Women in the Country to take necessary steps to push their agenda to another level.

Vice President Howard-Taylor said:” It is not sufficient for women to just speak on issues affecting them, but to also take positive actions.”

She called on women to forget their differences now that election is over and hold together, strategize and implement policies that will impact them.

The Liberian Vice President was speaking at the Liberian Women’s Consultative Forum Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at the Paynesville City Hall.

Several women attended the forum aimed at crafting a document to be used as a working tool for women for the next six years.

The CDC-led Government has committed itself to promoting women issues and ensuring the rights of women are protected in the Country.

Also speaking at the program, the head of the Women Situation Room of the Angie Brooks International Center, Cllr. Yvette Chesson Wureh, also emphasized the need for government to prioritize women and children issue, peace and security, and youth development.

Cllr. Chesson-Wureh   said:” The women have developed a document that will be used for the next six years to promote women and children issue, peace and security as well as youth development.”

According to her, the forum is being attended by women from across the fifteen counties of Liberia.

The meeting seeks to promote women empowerment, and respect for their rights.
