Vice President challenges Liberians to obtain citizen ID cards

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Vice President of Liberia, Jewel Howard Taylor, is urging Liberians to take serious the National Biometric Identification System (NBIS) to obtain their respective citizen ID cards.

Vice President Howard Taylor said:” Fulfilling the Liberianization Policy starts with Liberians putting the country first by abiding by the laws of the land, which include obtaining citizen identification cards, a civil duty.”

She spoke Tuesday, February 13, 2018, when she registered for her citizen ID card during her visits at the Headquarters of the National Registry in Congo Town.

A release said the Vice President thanked the NIR Management for the progress made at the registry and expressed her willingness to support the work at the registry.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director of the NIR, J.Tiah Nagbe, and his team praised the Vice President for her love and concern for the NIR.

He further called on Liberians to visit the National Registry to get enroll into the Biometric Identification System to obtain their citizen ID cards.

It can be recalled that Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor played a major role in crafting and the passage of the National Identification Registry Act in 2011, when she served as chairperson on the Senate Committee on Autonomous Agencies.
