Women & Girls dialogue on support, access to justice ends

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-A dialogue aims on domesticating international protocols in support of women and existing mechanism for support and access to justice amongst others has ended in Monrovia.

The objective of the dialogue is aim at enhancing protection of women and girls from sexual and other forms of gender based violence.

Serving as panelist, Vannah Boakai of the Women and Children Protection Section at the Liberia National Police said: “A lot has been put in place to enhance efforts to stop violence against women and girls”.

Commissioner Tonia Wiles, of the Independent National Commission on Human Rights said: “Several measures are now in place to respond to Sexual Based Violence in Liberia in consistent with international protocols”.

The one day round table forum held March 13, 2018 addressed the effects and challenges, of referral cases as pathway and domesticating international protocols to support women, among others.

A staff of Think Liberia, Joan Dalton pointed out that her organization has set up 12 safe houses for survivors of Sexual Based Violence.
