MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia has climbed one place on a United Nations ranking of happiest nations in the world.

Though in the bottom ten Liberia moved from 148 in 2017 to 149 this year on a table of 156 countries.

The 2018 World Happiness Report is a publication of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network and grades countries happiness base on income, healthy life expectancy, social support, freedom, trust and generosity.

The rankings are based on polls of self-reported wellbeing, as well as perceptions of corruption, generosity and freedom.

While Liberia’s one place upward movement might be seen as welcoming news, others receive the news as a call on government to intensify its fight against corruption, uphold freedoms and enhance social support to its people.

Meanwhile, the UN 2018 World Happiness Report has named the European nation of Finland as the happiest nation on earth while the African nation of Burundi is reported to be the unhappiest country in the world.
