MARYLAND COUNTY-The Minister of Internal Affairs, Varney Sirleaf, is in Maryland County looking into claims raised against the Cavalla Rubber Company by citizens of the County.

Citizens of the County, particularly youth, recently wrote the Minister informing him about some bad labor practice by the company.

The citizens also complained about non-compliance from the company in relations to implementing key components of its concession agreement with the Government of Liberia.

Our Maryland County Correspondent on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, quoted the Minister as saying that the company has agreed ,among other things, to build a factory it has promised since of its operations in the County.

The Cavalla Rubber Company also reportedly agreed to provide adequate means of transportation for students attending the Company’s school.

In another development, six Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) officers were allegedly beaten by some drug users in Plebo, Maryland County.

According to our Correspondent, the officers had gone to a hide-out of the suspects in the Dakiville Community where they were overpowered by the drug gang.

The officers are said to be responding to treatment at the Plebo Health Center.
