MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Health is making changes of local health officials in about five counties.

Liberia’s Chief Medical Officer, Francis Kateh, told ELBC Friday, March 23, 2018, that the changes will affect Maryland, Nimba, Bong, Rivercess and Bomi Counties.

The positions affected, according to Dr. Kateh, include County Health Officers, Medical Directors of the main government hospitals and the Clinical Directors in the counties.

Dr. Kateh clarified that the local health officials are being moved around so that their expertise can be shared in other Counties.

Meanwhile, the Chief Medical Officer has restated the Ministry’s recent statement warning hospitals and health centers against turning patients down for financial reasons.

Dr. Kateh said:” Every health worker has taken an oath first and foremost to save lives.”
He said the move will set the stage for a positive direction in providing the special healthcare that the Liberian people need.
