MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Manneh Weah, toured the Bali Island north of the historic Providence Island in Monrovia.

President Weah said his visit was intended to assess the Island in an attempt to construct a multipurpose city. The Indian Government is expected to finance the project which will add beauty to Monrovia and also ease the traffic burden in Central Town.

President Weah disclosed Monday, March 26, 2018, that his government is interested in transforming the Island into modern facilities where national and international occasions could be held.

He said:” There will be a modern conference center on the Island, recreation facilities and water taxi transportation.”

The President was accompanied on the Island by Indian Ambassador Upjit Shed Shadeva, as well as an array of senior government officials. The Liberian Leader said funding for the project is already available and actual work could start in about two months.

Balley Island has been abandoned since the independence of Liberia and has never been utilized.
