MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Health has dismissed as a misrepresentation and distortion of facts, statement the Front Page Africa Newspaper is attributing to Health Minister, Wilhelmina Jallah.

According to the Ministry of Health release issued on Wednesday, March 29, 2018, the Newspaper, in its Tuesday, March 27, 2018 edition, reported that Minister Jallah was involved in the purchase of illegal drugs and medical supplies while in the private sector.

But the release quotes the Health Ministry’s Communication Director, Sorbor George, as saying the Minister’s statement was an exact description of how the health sector is vulnerable to illegal drugs.

The release maintained that Minister Jallah had never been involved in the purchase of illegal drugs and other medical supplies meant for the people of Liberia as reported by FPA.

The release is reminding Front-page Africa Management that Minister Jallah will never condone any acts that are against the interest of the Liberian Government and people.

The Ministry’s  statement further warned that such negative report does not only endanger the character being targeted by such report, but also paints a bad picture of the Country and block needed foreign assistance.

In another health development, several health workers in Nimba County say they are living in fear, due to continued attacks on them allegedly by young people, mostly motorcyclist in the County.

According to our Nimba County Correspondent, the youth, including the Motor Cyclist, are accusing the health workers of giving family planning to their fiancées.

The incident is taking place in district number 3,4,5,6 and 7.

Speaking to our Nimba County Correspondent, the Officer-In-Charge at the Dorcus Mantor Clinic in Saclepea, Madison Quawon, said though they have not experienced such attacks, female students in Saclepea are now rejecting family planning, because of the current tension from their boyfriends.

Officer-in-charge Quawon lamented that due to the rejection of family planning by some female students, teenage pregnancy is on the increase in Nimba County.
