Sam Mannah-Government stands ready to fight corruption

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Presidential Press Secretary, Sam Mannah, has reassured that President George Weah will not condone corruption in his Government.

Mr. Mannah said the Liberian Government will prosecute any public official found to be corrupt.

He said President Weah wants to ensure that all Liberians benefit from the wealth of the Country and do away with what he calls ‘business as usual.’

Speaking to ELBC Thursday, March 29, 2018, Mr. Mannah echoed the President’s commitment to transforming Liberia, adding that President Weah has instructed the Finance Minister to review the current salary structure of the government.

He said: “This is intended to possibly make adjustments in the salary structure of government workers, thereby reducing salary disparity in government.”

The Presidential Press Secretary also said government is planning to build five thousand homes for slump dwellers, starting with residents of West Point in Central Monrovia.

He said a feasibility study will be conducted to know whether West Point is still feasible to accommodate the kind of structures that should   be built there.

Mr. Mannah said government has decided to initiate housing program to transform village huts into concrete building as part of his transformation plan for Liberia.
