Liberia to benefit from energy supply…

IVORY COAST-Liberia and Ivory have signed an agreement for the supply of energy to Liberia through the West Africa Power Pool Project.

Speaking to ELBC from Ivory Coast Thursday, April 5, 2018, Presidential Press Secretary Sam Mannah said:” The agreement will see the running of over 1,000 km of power lines from Ivory Coast to Liberia, through the Firestone corridor and subsequently to Sierra Leone.”

Finance Minister Samuel D. Tweah signed on behalf of the Government of Liberia.

During the signing ceremony, the Ivorian Government assured the Liberian Government that several commissioning exercises of the project will be done in 2019, which will see the rapid supply of electricity in the rural parts in Liberia.

President Weah has also held discussions with Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara on issues of border security and investment opportunities aimed at improving the economy of Liberia.
