Minister Fahngon: Gov’t cannot afford attempts to defile the presidency

Francis Pelenah/Maximilian Kasseh, Jr.

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Deputy Information Minister for Public Affairs, Eugene Fahngon, says the Liberian Government cannot afford any attempt to desecrate the Presidency of the Country.

Minister Fahngon was responding to an editorial published in the Frontpage Africa newspaper on Thursday in which the publisher, Rodney Sieh, described the President as a born liar.

The publication came on the back of a meeting between President George Weah and Media Executives on Wednesday, April 11, 2018.

Speaking Thursday, April 12,2018, at the regular Ministry of Information (MICAT) Press Briefing, Deputy Minister Fahngon said:” Mr. Sieh could put it a better way other than being rude to the President.”

He said:” The action of Mr. Sieh will be treated as the making of Frontpage Africa and not generalized such as a Media attack on the President.”

Mr. Fahngon also dismissed Rodney Sieh’s claims that he was not invited to the meeting with President Weah.

He said all publishers and heads of media entities, including the PUL, were invited to Wednesday’s gathering.

According to him, the excuses given by Mr. Sieh for not attending the meeting are flimsy and awkward.
