MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Former Vice President of Liberia, Joseph Nyumah Boakai, wants many challenges overcome if Liberia is to achieve progress and sustainable development in agriculture.

Ambassador Boakai, among other things, named poverty, lack of access to technology, inadequate healthcare delivery and lack of access to financing as contributing factors to low agricultural productivity and development.

The former Vice President was speaking Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at his residence in Paynesville when he announced the establishment of the Joseph Nyumah Boakai Foundation.

He said:” The JNB Foundation has seen the need to strengthen and link farmers to new and improved technology, as well as other extension services that will help ensure food security.”

On Education, Amb. Boakai said the Foundation will provide technical and vocational training programs for both urban youth and rural women and girls.

According to him, the Foundation grew out of his unparalleled love for Liberia and the desire to see the lives of the people transformed.

Ambassador Boakai has since appointed seasoned Liberian Diplomat and former Foreign Minister Sylvester Grisby as the Executive Director of the JNB Foundation.
