President Weah to inaugurate parks tomorrow

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The President of Liberia, George Manneh Weah, is expected to launch two new parks in Monrovia on Thursday, April 26, 2018.

The two parks were established by Acts of the 53rd National Legislature in September 2016 and August 2017 respectively.

The parks are the Grebo-Krahn National Park in the South East and the Gola Forest National in Western Liberia.

The establishment of the parks demonstrates the Country’s commitment to biodiversity conservation and is consistent with the National Forest Reform Law of 2006 and international best practice and protocols.

The parks were created following extensive consultations and with the agreement with host communities.

According to a release issued April 24, 2018,the President will lead senior government officials, representatives of foreign missions and conservation NGOs to grace the event.
