MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The African Union (AU) Ambassador to Liberia, Ibrahim Kamara, says the African Union remains committed to the promotion of peace, security and the over-all development of AU Member Countries.

Ambassador Kamara said for the past years, the African Union has made significant strides in maintaining peace and promoting democracy in Africa.

He said: “Liberia, being a Founding Member of the AU, is significant to the Continental Body and as such, we are in Liberia, as UNMIL has drawn down, to ensure peace, stability and the development of the country.”

The AU Ambassador made the assertions in Monrovia Thursday, May 3, 2018, when he was honored by a civil society organization, the Progressive Alliance Movement of Liberia, for his outstanding performance in the execution of the AU’s objectives in Liberia.

Receiving the certificate of honor, Ambassador Kamara lauded the organization for the recognition and promised to remain up to the task.

Speaking earlier, the Movement’s National Chairman, Mamadee Keita, said the African Union’s incessant support to Liberia’s democracy is worth commending.

He recounted the role played by the AU, especially in the 2017 Presidential and Legislative Elections, as justification for his recognition.
