MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Inspector Roosevelt Dehmie of the Liberia National Police (LNP) who allegedly shot and killed a motorcyclist has been charged with murder.

Demmie was arraigned before the Monrovia City Court on Thursday, May 3, 2018, where his charges were read to him before been sent to jail pending trial.

Earlier Police Director Patrick Sudue said it was established that two rounds were discharged by the officer during the incident at the soul clinic junction in Paynesville.

The officer was assigned a MP-22 NORICO 9 millimeter fire arm which was used during the incident that led to Motorcyclist Beyan Lamine’s death.

IG Sudue of the LNP said: “Officer Dehmie will be disrobed and suspended for time indefinite based on findings from the court.”

He also noted that if he is found guilty, dehmie will be dismissed from the Liberia National Police.
The Police Chief then assured the public that no officer is above the law.
