Liberia U-20 in WAFU Final

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia's Teenage sensational Musa Kabbeh's 12th-minute goal proved enough to take Liberia’s U-20 to their first international cup final over Mali.

Musa Kabbeh eliminated a defender to slot home that lone goal which later proved to be the match winner over Mali in the second semi-final of the 2018 WAFU U-20 competition taking place in Liberia.

Edward Ledlum and Sam Jackson came close to increasing Liberia U-20's lead following that goal. Sam Jackson dribbled two defenders in the 18-yard box but saw his shot which beat the Malian goalkeeper hit the Woodwork. Mali U-20 dominated the second half but was denied by Young keeper Ashley Williams on several occasions.

Musa Kabbeh’s 12th minute goal was his fifth of the tournament, making him the lead goal getter for the tournament. Liberia U-20 will face Gambia U-20 for the final on Sunday. The Gambia defeated Ivory Coast 8-7 in penalties after full time ended 1-1. This was the first international cup tournament in Liberia for over 30 years.

The semi-final win over Mali U-20 was witnessed by Liberia's Patron of Sports, President George Manneh Weah and former Liberian Leader Ellen Johnson Sirleaf at the Samuel Kayon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville.

Wednesday, May 3, 2018 turned out was the biggest turned out of spectators at the WAFU U-20 competition.

The final comes on Sunday at the Samuel Kayon Doe sports complex between Liberia U-20 and Mali U-20.
