Prez. Sirleaf dedicates Justice and Security Hub

 (lbsonline/Liberia)-President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has dedicated the first Regional Justice and Security Hub in Gbarnga, Bong County.

The dedicatory ceremony took place Monday 12 February, 2013  when President Johnson-Sirleaf Performed the dedication.

“The Hub’s construction is a joint project undertaken by the United Nations Peace Building Support office and the Liberian Government.”

President Sirleaf said: “The facility was constructed at the cost of US$13 Million, with greater portion of the funds coming from the United Nations Peace Building Office in Monrovia".

The Liberian leader also said: “The Hub is to increase citizens’ access to justice and security services across the country. The Gbarnga Hub will have a staff of 139 personnel, including police officers, human rights monitors, public defenders, prosecutors, probation and immigration officers,” the President said.

“Besides the Gbarnga Hub, the Liberian Government and its partners are planning to establish a network of four other Regional Justice and Security Hubs,” she disclosed.

The Liberian President said: “The network will be opened in four of Liberia’s fifteen sub-political divisions, including Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County, Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, Harper, Maryland County, and Tubmanburg, Bomi County.”

“The decentralization of government services to the Liberian people is another indication of good governance throughout the country,” President Johnson-Sirleaf said.
