Commerce Ministry vows to rid market of expired and spoilt goods

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Commerce Ministry says it remains committed to ridding the Liberian market of expired and contaminated goods.

The Communications Director at the Commerce Ministry, Mitchell Jones, said:” The entity will carry out the exercise without fear and favor as the exercise is being done in line with the Ministry’s statutory mandate to ensure consumable goods are not contaminated.”

Mr. Jones said besides, the Ministry has embarked on a vigorous inspection exercise across the country to increase government revenue. 

Speaking to ELBC Thursday, May 17, 2018, Mr. Jones said the inspection is intended to increase the revenue of government.

Meanwhile, he said plans being worked out by the Commerce Ministry and other government agencies to address the prices of some essential commodities on the local market.
