Initial report on Global Witness allegations goes to the House…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has submitted to the Plenary of the House of Representatives copy of the initial report of the Special Presidential Committee on the Global Witness allegations against the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL).

Recommendations from the report called for the immediate conduct of independent investigations to determine why the record section of NOCAL, Ministries of Lands, Mines and Energy, Foreign Affairs and the Liberian Registry were unable to produce records relating to incorporation of the companies involved.

The recommendations submitted on May 29,2018, among others, also  called for detail forensic auditing, restitution of said amount is made to Government with receipt published in a recognized newspaper within fifteen days from the day the report is made public.

In addition to restituting the amount, all members of the Board of NOCAL involved will be barred from serving on any public communication board in Liberia.

Following the reading of the communication, it was moved and seconded that the House Leadership takes charge and communicate to the executive for all implementation.
