MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Acting Health Minister Norwu Howard is calling for sustainable health financing in Liberia, if the country is to achieve Universal Health Coverage.

Madam Howard said though Liberia has made some gains following the Ebola outbreak, more needs to be done in building a resilient health sector.

She said:” There must be an inter-sectorial approach and a sustained health financing by government and partners, for the country to achieve Universal Health Coverage.”

She named Liberia’s health sector priorities as building a fit- for- purpose workforce through capacity building, strengthening supply chain system to deal with drugs shortage and sustaining health financing.

She made the remarks at the start of a health stakeholder’s forum aimed at looking at the health component of the Liberian Government’s Pro-Poor Agenda for Development and Prosperity.

The forum organized by the World Health Program (WHO) also aims to align the Country’s health priorities with the WHO’s 13 General Programs approved during the 71th General Assembly held in Geneva recently.
