Public Works Minister says building roads is vital to Govt.

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Public Works Minister, Mabutu Nyenpan, has described road connectivity as the fulcrum of the Government’s Pro-Poor Agenda.

Minister Nyenpan said:” Over the years, bad roads have hampered the growth and development of Liberia, and have also undermined the overall progress of the country.”

Minister Nyenpan made the statement Thursday, June 14, 2018, in Monrovia when President George Weah signed   two road financing agreements.

He said the signing of the two loan agreements by the President is an indication of the Government’s quest for the social and economic development of Liberia.

Meanwhile, Minister Nyenpan has disclosed that the two road agreements will enable Liberia pave approximately 830 kilometers of primary roads affecting the 15 counties upon completion.

Meanwhile, Bad roads are said to be affecting the movement of vehicles in Gbarpolu County, and other counties across the Country.

ELBC Gbarpolu County Correspondent said several roads in Gbarpolu are inaccessible.

The situation has also led to the rise in transport fares, with a lot of commuters bearing the cost of the matter.
