Growing Tree – Liberia to make Clay Street children smile

MONROVIA, LIBERIA - Growing Tree–Liberia (GTL), a non-governmental organization based in Berlin, Germany is dedicated to delivering standardized residential care for children particularly the needy orphans and the outcasts.

GTL Director Melvin Kennedy said: “Our program is in a series of initiatives to be undertaken in the near future on child abuse and other forms of violence that are perpetrated against children in Liberia”.

Mr. Kennedy spoke Saturday, July 7, 2018, at an awareness program held at its headquarters in Monrovia, brought together more than 20 sponsored childrenin Schools by GTL from Clay Street Community in Central Monrovia.

GTL, birthed by its Executive Director, Janel Galvanek, is run by a small team working closely and collaboratively with partners in Liberiaseeking to assist Liberians to achieve a more sustainable future.

The organization seeks to empower Liberians to design and implement their own projects. Parents who attended the program in separate remarks lauded efforts by the GTL for bring smile on the faces of their children.

Kennedy admonished parents to protect the future of their children by giving the needed support toward their education. “If Liberia is to have a generation whose future must be bright, the time is now to embark on providing education to the young ones” the GTL Director said.

Melvin Kennedy said a 4-acre of land has been acquired by GTL for the construction of a child care complex in Sass Town, Bomi County. When constructed, it would a permanent home for children especially orphans and outcasts.
