US-United Bong Citizens for convention, suggest to gov’t

MONROVIA, LIBERIA - Ahead of a four- day international convention of the United Bong Citizens (UBCC) in the Americas, has expressed deep concern about current national economy and environment among other issues affecting the Liberian society.

The convention with a Theme; ‘United to Build A Better Bong County’, scheduled to be held from July 19 -22, 2018 in the American state of Minnesota will also be focused on education, healthcare and agriculture.

The UBCC’s President, Samuel Sondah, said: “The declining Liberian economy coupled with its attending hardship requires a decisive but urgent attention, through a solution-seeking action by from President George Manneh Weah”.

Mr. Sondah  poke to ELBC Monday, July 16, 2018 from the United Sates, when he pronounced convention of UBCC, bringing together delegates from across America and Liberia, including civil society, the Bong Technical College and other stakeholders. 

The Bong Citizens also called on the Liberian leader to ensure that people responsible for the country’s current situation are tackled appropriately and those behinds the economic mess be held responsible for such actions.

Mr. Sondah, further noted that the fall in the value of the Liberian Dollar to the US Dollar, leading to the rise in the prices of basic commodities should also claim government’s urgent attention.

According to Mr. Sondah, the convention’s agenda will discuss the inhuman treatment of spillage of chemical by the MMG-Gold company operating in Kokoyah that is affecting the environment and the livelihood of the people in the area.

He called on the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mitigates to avoid more destruction of more lives, and urged government to investigate the company and if possible to take risibility or face the law of Liberia.

The organization founded 20 years ago, has being advocating and concern about the welfare of the people of Bong County.

Currently the   Sondah’s Administration has achieved restoring the Gbarnga City and Baltimore Sister City relationship, and are also building an educational resource center and identifying meaningful projects as we as sustaining the county’s unity for development.
