National Elections Commissions announces ballot papers arrival

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The National Elections Commission (NEC) has announced the arrival of one-million-two-hundred-seventy-eight thousand-seven-hundred-fifty ballot papers for the conduct of the by-elections for Bong and Montserrado Counties.

The ballot papers arrived in two batches from Ghana. The first batch arrived on Sunday, July 15, 2018 and the last consignment got in on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at the Roberts International Airport (RIA) in Margibi County.

Of that amount, 997 thousand-one-hundred-fifty are for Montserrado County, while the remaining 281 thousand-six-hundred are for Bong County.

Upon arrival, the ballot papers were taken to a secured location under heavy National Police escort, ahead of distribution to the two counties for the July 31, 2018 By-elections.

Meanwhile, the tactile ballot guards which are for use by the visually impaired, and the Results Forms are expected to arrive later this week.

The Commission reminds the public that all pre-packed materials for the By-elections have ever since arrived in the country and are secured.

Ahead of the By-elections the Commission has embarked on a vigorous Civic and Voters Education (CVE) campaign to enable voters the needed knowledge to vote properly on Election Day.
