(lbsonline/Liberia)-The Liberian Senate has alarmed that Finance Minister, Amara Konneh, is still signing documents as Acting Planning and Economic Affairs Minister.

The Senate described Minister Konneh’s action as an attempt to impersonate and disrespect the Legislature.

The Senate said: “The issue was earlier settled with President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf for Minister Konneh to desist, but we are wondering why the matter has resurfaced.”

The issue was raised by Grand Kru County Senator, Cletus Wotorson during session Thursday, 21th   February, 2013.

“I received a recent letter, dated February 18, 2013, under the signature of Minister Konneh as Acting Planning and Economic Affairs Minister,” Senator Wotorson told his colleagues during the legislative deliberation.

“There is no Minister of Planning and Economic Affairs, and there is no law merging the Ministries of Planning and Economic Affairs, and Finance,” the Liberian Senate said in reaction to the information provided the august body by Senator Wotorson.

According to lbsonline reporter, the Senate has resolved, through vote taking, to meet with President Johnson-Sirleaf on the matter.

It can be recalled that the Liberian Leader pronounced that she will submit a bill to the Legislature for the merger of the two ministries, during her State of the Nation-Report to the Legislature.
