Senatorial By – Elections is currently taking place in Montserrado and Bong Counties, with low turnout

Our Reporters who visited various voting precincts across the two counties said there are no queues and voters seem have less interest in the electoral process.

The two vacant senatorial seats were created by the election of George Manneh Weah and Jewel Howard – Taylor as President and Vice President respectively.

Both President Weah and Vice President Taylor were Senators of Montserrado and Bong Counties prior to their victory in the 2017 general and Presidential elections.

There are seven candidates contesting for the senatorial seat of Montserrado County, while five are in the race for Bong County.

So far, voting is largely peaceful and no violence has been reported.

In line with the National Elections Commissions’ (NEC) guidelines, polling which opened 8am this morning will close at 6pm this evening.
