3 Police Officers face soundings for alleged used of firearm against protesting Firestone workers

FIRESTONE, MARGIBI COUNTY-The Liberian National Police (LNP) has subjected three of its officers to investigation following reports of allege used of live firearm against workers of Firestone Liberia Incorporated in Margibi County.

It comes days after Justice Minister Musa Dean gave Police Inspector General Patrick Sudue 48 hours to probe the incident and report to his office.

Speaking to ELBC Monday, August 13, 2018, Police Spokesman Moses Carter said Inspector Thomas Baryee, Officers Alphonso Jolokai and Austin Karr were on duty when protesting Firestone workers were being fired at.

Spokesman Cater said: “The three police officers have been turned over to the Professional Standard Division of the LNP for further investigations.”

He said the three officers will be disarmed and administrative actions taken against them, if found guilty.

Spokesman Carter told ELBC that the Justice Ministry has already taken delivery of the initial report.
