Land Rights Bill delay is worrisome-Civil Society Org.

Maximilian Kasseh, Jr.

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) Working Group on Land Rights Reform in Liberia says the delay in the passage of Draft Land Rights Bill is worrisome.

The Bill is currently before the Liberian Senate.

The CSOs Working Group is also calling on the Senate to recognize the un-expected changes made in the Bill as such changes will not augur well for the Country.

According to the release issued Thursday, August 17, 2018, the changes affected the 2017 components passed by the 53rd Legislature.
It also said the changes are on Tribal Certificate, Public Land, Protected Areas, the Women’s Land Rights Component, among others.

In a statement, issued in Monrovia in Monrovia Thursday, the Working Group alerted development partners of the inconsistencies that continue to hinder Liberia’s Land Reform process.
