Commerce Inspector Gen.warns against random increase in rice price

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Commerce Inspector General Josephine Davies is warning business entities against any arbitrary increase in the Price of rice on the market.

Madam Davies said the retail price of the country’s staple food remains at thirteen dollars fifty cent and not fifteen dollars as being charged for a 25Kg bag.

Speaking to ELBC Monday, August 20, 2018, Madam Davies called on the public to report any business entity or individual caught selling rice for 15 dollars.

According to her, the government through the Ministry of Commerce will not accept any exploitation of the Liberian people by businesses in the country.

Madam Davies said:” As Inspector General of Commerce, I have the right to check with business houses to find out whether they are doing the right thing or not.”
