Liberia can handle any Ebola outbreak-Director Tolbert Nyenswah

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Director General of the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL), Tolbert Nyenswah, says Liberia is now prepared to handle any Ebola outbreak.

Director Nyenswah said the Global Health Security Agenda Strategic Roadmap for Liberia is being implemented and closely aligned with the Liberian Government’s Investment Plan for building a resilient health system.

According to a release issued Wednesday, September 5, 2018,and  signed by the Health Ministry’s Communication Consultant, Sorbor George, the Liberian Public Health expert made the statement recently when he served as Keynote Speaker and Panelist at the Prestigious International Conference.

Director Nyenswah who spoke on the theme: Strengthening Health Security through Field Epidemiology said Liberia remains grateful to the Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC) Field Epidemiology Laboratory Training Program, as the Center Now stands as an effective and functioning entity.

The release quotes Director Nyenswah as saying the Liberian Government has made remarkable progress in building health security capacity to prevent, detect and respond to disease threats.

He said this is possible, because the Country now has the capacity to accurately diagnose and confirm Ebola, Measles, and Lassa fever among others.

The gathering also marks the Third Annual Scientific Conference and is in celebration of the Nigeria Field Epidemiology Laboratory Training Program’s 10th Anniversary.
