African Dev. Bank recommits to reducing poverty in Liberia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Country Manager of the African Development Bank (ADB) Liberia Office, Dr. Orison Amu, has reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to helping reduce poverty in Liberia.

Dr. Amu said:” In line with the Bank’s core objective of promoting economic development and fighting poverty, the AFDB is supporting 15 projects in Liberia.”

According to Dr. Amu, the ADB has over the years worked in the areas of water supply through support to the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWRC), health, education and private sector development.

Speaking to ELBC Friday, September 14, 2018, Dr. Amu disclosed that the ADB currently has an investment portfolio of $350 million United States Dollars.

He named key successes as the pavement of the Fish Town to Harper Highway and increasing LWSC daily water supply from 3 million to 16 million gallons.

Meanwhile, the ADB will next week host a two-day Career Fair at the Paynesville City Hall from September 20 to 21, 2018.

According to Country Manager Dr. Orison Amu, the objective of the program is to exchange employment information with Liberians, and encourage them to seek job opportunities with the Bank.
