Sports Ministry ends meeting on reviving training center in Salala

SALALA, LOWER BONG COUNTY, LIBERIA-The Youth and Sports Ministry, along with its partners has ended a one day   meeting with stakeholders of the Tumuta Agriculture Training Center in Salala, Lower Bong County.

According to our Correspondent, the meeting held over the weekend focused on working out modalities for the Youth and Sports Ministry to reactivate the Center that has been dormant.

He said the Youth and Sports Ministry is interested in the TEVET Program in order to empower Liberian youth to meaningfully contribute to the Country’s growth and development.

Our correspondent said in June  this year, the Food and Agriculture Organization( FAO)  and the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture( IIT )  were at the Tumutu  Agriculture Training Center to do assessment  and  explore means of collaboration to improve the center.

The report said the stakeholders’ meeting was also aimed at ensuring that the community finds interest in the Training Project, take ownership and encourage their children to take advantage of the Vocational Training Program.

FAO Country Director, Mauritius Angay, pledged two vehicles to the Youth and Sports Ministry to enhance the Ministry’s work for the center.

For his part, Bong County Senator, Henry Yallah, lauded the Bong Technical College for the expressed willingness to collaborate with the Tumutu Agriculture Training Center so that students from the two institutions can benefit.
