Liberians stage “Bring Our Money Back” protest

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-A Group of protesters, under the banner, Bring Our Money Back, has petitioned three diplomatic missions in Monrovia to intervene in the alleged disappearance of 16-billion Liberian Dollars.

The Missions include the United Nations (UN), European Union (EU) Offices, and the United States Embassy near Monrovia.

The Organizers of the protest, Emmanuel Gonqueh and Martin Kollie, said :” Our petition is intended to draw the attention of the United States Government and the EU to the disappearance of the 16-billion Liberian Dollar saga.”

Gonqueh and Kollie also said they want the International Community prevail on the Government to explain to the Liberian people the status of the 16-billion Liberian Dollars in question.

They disclosed that the EU Office and the US Embassy near Monrovia have assured them of their favorable responses to their request in the soonest possible time.

Our reporter said during the protest, the Liberia National Police (LNP) exhibited high degree of maturity and professionalism in providing protection for the protesters.

He said there has been no incident of violent since the protest began during the early hours of Monday, September 24,2018, in Monrovia.
