(lbsonline/Liberia)-The Ministry of Commerce and Industry says five entertainment centers have violated the restriction or ban placed on the sale of alcoholic beverages to children under age 18.

According to the Ministry of Commerce, seven children under age 18, were caught buying and drinking alcoholic beverages on Christmas Day.

Assistant Minister of Commerce, Sie Gahn, made the disclosure Wednesday 26th December, 2012 in Monrovia, but failed to disclose the names of the business centers.

Minister Gahn described the action of the entertainment centers as a violation of the ministry’s restriction on the sale of alcoholic beverages to under-age children. “Appropriate actions will be taken against the five entertainment centers in accordance with Liberian laws”.

“The ministry’s task force, during the 2012 Christmas Day celebration, visited several communities and entertainment centers, among which about 43 centers were discovered unregistered with government. The ministry has therefore, given the 42 businesses 72 hours to meet the requirements for registration”.

Mr. Gahn also urged parents and guardians to work along with the Commerce Ministry to make the restriction on the sale of alcoholic drinks to their children hold.
