MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Residents of the Borough of New Kru Town are commending the Government of Liberia for the Coastal Defense Project currently being built along the beach.

The government, through the Ministry of Mines and Energy with support from the World Bank, is building the wall to protect beach communities in New Kru from sea erosion.

So far some communities and major institutions have been saved from sea erosion, including the D. Tweh High School.

Speaking to ELBC Monday, October 1, 2018, some residents described the move by the government as timely and in the right direction, and one that will always be remembered.

The residents, mainly women, however called on the government to speed up the process to safe the entire coast line of the Borough of New Kru Town.

President George Manneh Weah on Monday, October 1, 2018, toured the project to ascertain its impact in the lives of the people along the beaches of New Kru Town.
