MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Youth and Sports is recruiting another batch of young people for the Youth Opportunity Project.

The YOP is being implemented in partnership with the Liberia Agency for Community Empowerment, with support from the World Bank.

Under the Productive Public Work component, over three- thousand young people will be recruited to engage in group farming this year.

Speaking to ELBC Monday, October 22, 2018, Deputy Youth and Sports Minister for Youth Development, Isaac Doe, said:” The aim is to provide livelihood opportunities for the most vulnerable youth population across Liberia.”

Mr. Doe said young people recruited under the project are being supported to do community farming, with tools and other implements provided by the government and partners.

According to the Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, beneficiaries will be given a stipend of three hundred United States dollars each to help them while making their farms.

Also speaking, the Technical Manager of the Project at the Liberia Agency for Community Development, Mohammed Nassah said teams have already been dispatched to the most vulnerable communities across the 15 counties for the recruitment exercise.
Nahsah said it is expected that each community will cultivate at least thirty five acres of land.
