Emma Glassco gets prestigious Seafarers’ Patron Award

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The United Seamen, Ports and General Workers Union of Liberia has honored the Director General of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA) Emma Glassco, with its prestigious National Seafarers’ Patron Award for  empowerment and support to the union.

The President of the Seafarers Union, Samuel Siaffa, Conferring the award   upon the NaFAA Boss Thursday, October 25, 2018 in Monrovia, said: “Madam Emma Glassco, is a result oriental leader who is delivering on her promises at all times”.

Mr. Siaffa said it is out of the appreciation of Madam Glassco and her tremendous progress achieved at the NaFAA and the level of support   through capacity building and contribution towards the construction of the Union’s Headquarters Office make her the deserving personality.

The NaFAA Director General, Emma Glassco congratulated the Seafarer Union’s gesture in recognition of remarkable work she was being honored for but dedicated the award to President George Manneh Weah as the driving force behind the overall vision to transform Liberia.

Madam Glassco, further indicated that her institution remains committed to ensuring about 40% of crew members on industrial vessels are Liberian in keeping with government’s regulations.

According to  the NaFAA Boss, “ with the intervention of President George Weah,  there are on-going efforts aim at enabling the Seafarers obtain their Blue Book very soon, as part of resolving some of the challenges they are faced with”.

The Blue Book is the seafaring license that legally enables Seafarers to board any and all fishing vessels operating on Liberian waters.
