MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Lone Star’s next game against Zimbabwe is the next crucial encounter that will decide the fate of the national team in the ongoing 2019 African Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

Lone Star will host the Warriors of Zimbabwe in their fifth Group G match on Sunday, November 18, at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex. After four games, Coach Thomas Kojo and his boys are still languishing at the bottom of the group with four points.

If the red, white and blue boys are to secure a slot in the group stage of the nations cup finals, they now have to exert every effort to win their final two games with more goals.

Ahead of the Zimbabwe clash, head coach Kojo has named a 25-man provisional squad to face the Warriors with four new additions. The new additions include defenders Ben Beniah (Nimba United), Nuwo Johnson (LPRC Oilers), Boakai Morlu (NPA Anchors) and Watanga’s striker Chauncy Freeman.
The provisional squad comprises of both local and foreign-based players. Goalkeepers in the squad include Boison Wynney de Souza, Ashley Williams, and Tommy Songo. Defenders are Teah Dennis, Joel Johnson, Alvin Maccornel, Kemoh Kamara, Aloysius Simujla, Ben Beniah, Nuwo Johnson and Boakai Morlu.

Kojo named the midfielders in the squad as Anthony Snoti Laffor, Murphy Oscar Dorley, Tonia Tisdell, Sylvanus C. Nimely, Allen Njie, David Tweh and Saah B. Nyumah, while the strikers are team captain William Jerbo, Sam Johnson, Kpah Sherman, Sam Kollie and Chauncy Freeman.

From the list revealed, Malta-based Adolphus Marshall and LISCR FC’s midfielder Sekou Sherriff are the two players that were dropped from coach Kojo’s previous listing.

As always, there have been several criticisms since the list was published, with some criticizing the coach for leaving out the Most Valuable Player in the just ended league season, Kelvin Potis. Potis, who plays for the current double champions Barrack Young Controllers, was earlier called up along with other local players for justification by the technical staff of the national team but did not make it up to the provisional squad.

From the onset, Coach Kojo has maintained that listings released by the technical arm of the national team before every game are the players that they have chosen to work with
